Should your facility be outdoors and located far from an established electrical panel, we’re adept at installing trench wires and conduits. While this process will take longer, it provides greater flexibility when it comes to choosing where you want your hot tub or sauna to be.

Frequently Asked Questions

The choice between a hot tub or sauna really boils down to what you’re hoping to achieve from using them, as well as if you want to have a social experience:

  • Hot tub
If you’re looking for a soothing and fun way to unwind after the day, a hot tub may be the better choice. Being submerged in water takes advantage of our natural buoyancy, reducing the weight placed on joints and muscles; should the hot tub come with hydrotherapy jets, these will also massage muscles and aid in relieving tension.
Additionally, hot tubs can serve as social hubs for your friends and loved ones, as their design allows multiple people to fit in comfortably. As only the water is heated, it’s possible to set chilled beverages on the rim without them warming up.

  • Sauna
If you’re wanting a peaceful refuge to relax and cleanse your body, a sauna may be the better option. Traditional saunas function by boiling water into steam, heating the air within the sauna and causing users to sweat. This perspiration, along with increased blood flow, can aid in detoxing the body, letting you feel refreshed even after just 10 minutes. Should you want to remain in the sauna for longer, an infrared version could be safer.
While saunas are often capable of fitting more than one person at a time, they’re usually used solo; if multiple people are present, the high heat levels can stifle social interactions in favor of quiet contemplation.

While some basic plug-and-play hot tub or sauna models may be able to run on the typical 120-volt outlets found in houses, the power draw for these facilities is often much higher—without a dedicated 240-volt hardwired circuit, there’s a high chance the breaker could overload, resulting in severe electrical damage and a potential fire.

To remain on the safe side, a trained electrician should install a 240-volt circuit at your location, along with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) box in a spot away from the water and/or steam.

On average, wiring for a hot tub installation takes 2–4 hours, but this process can take longer if more advanced procedures—such as burying a cable or upgrading a panel—are required.

For saunas, installation usually requires 4 hours for indoor locations, while outdoor installations can take 1–2 days; like hot tubs, advanced requirements will increase the amount of time needed.

For hot tub installations, the cost varies depending on system capacity, wiring needs, and material requirements. In general, this process ranges from $500 to $1,600 in Central Oregon.

Sauna pricing primarily depends on style (traditional v. infrared) and location (indoor v. outdoor). For an indoor infrared stall, the cost will likely be between $1,800 and $7,000, while a traditional outdoor cabin could run from $6,000 to $18,000.

We provide upfront estimates before any work begins.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has mandated that all hot tub and sauna electrical elements run through a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) box. This breaker detects minute changes in electrical currents, immediately shutting off any power if it notices a decrease—as this shift can occur due to electricity exiting the system through water or a person, it’s essential that the GFCI acts quickly to prevent physical harm.

The NFPA outlined multiple requirements for GFCI boxes in the National Electric Code, with the two primary necessities being:

  1. A GFCI box must be present and stored within a weatherproof container.
  2. The box must be visible from the hot tub or sauna, making it easily reachable in an emergency.
